Cietta has been a research associate at the Leather Research Laboratory since 2006. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering, from the University of Dayton and a Master of Science degree in Chemistry from the University of Cincinnati.

She excels in the following specialized research areas:

• Consumer product safety testing, which involves screening leather and leather products for the presence of toxic substances such as lead, other heavy metals, Cr(VI) and prohibited fungicides.
